Jon Sortland was born in Vancouver Wa. USA.
Sortland started his musical career with his High School band The Circus Tents which was featured in several skateboarding videos gaining an underground following in the punk scene.
Sortland went on to form several bands over the years releasing records and touring internationally. In 2013 Sortland joined Danger Mouse and James Mercer's collaboration as a live drummer, bassist and keyboardist in Broken Bells.
That ultimately lead Sortland to join The Shins in 2016 to the present. Sortland has written and directed several music videos for The Shins and his band EV Kain.
Presently Sortland is composing musical scores and creating music videos.
